A new report claims that tensions are reportedly high between Euphoria stars Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya, and the issue appears to stem from political differences.

The two actresses, who grew up together on the set of HBO’s dark teen drama, were once close friends, with Sweeney even referring to Zendaya affectionately as “Z.” But according to new reports from The Daily Mail, their relationship has deteriorated due to their opposing political views.
Sources tell The Mail that Sweeney, 28, has been “vocal about her support for President Trump” and is a “proud Republican voter,” which has caused friction with Zendaya, 29, a known critic of Trump. Zendaya previously shared a 2020 Instagram post about voting rights with the caption, “Vote this MF out.”
Refusing to Appear Together
The report claims Zendaya is now “refusing” to participate in press calls for Euphoria Season 3 alongside Sweeney after filming wrapped earlier this month. One insider said the actress doesn’t want to be seen as condoning Sweeney’s political stance:
“It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in because if she even stands next to Sydney on the red carpet, it can be read as her excusing Sydney’s views on Trump and her refusal to apologise for the racist ad.”
The “racist ad” refers to backlash Sweeney received for her appearance in an American Eagle jeans commercial, which critics claimed was tone-deaf.
No Love Lost
The feud marks a dramatic shift for the pair, who once shared a strong on-set bond during Euphoria’s early seasons. Insiders for the outlet say that beyond the political tension, the two now “avoid standing near each other” at events and have kept their distance throughout promotional efforts for the upcoming season.

The feud headlines arrive as Sweeney’s latest movie, Christy, struggles at the box office. The biopic about boxer Christy Martin underperformed commercially despite strong early promotion.
On Instagram, Sweeney responded with a heartfelt post, saying that Christy “will stay in my heart forever,” praising the cast and crew for their passion and resilience. She said portraying Christy Martin was one of the “greatest honors” of her life and emphasized that the film “stands for survival, courage, and hope.”
Sweeney added that while the film didn’t succeed financially, its impact mattered more — sharing that the movie raised awareness for domestic violence and could help inspire women to find safety and strength. “We don’t always just make art for numbers,” she wrote, calling Christy the “most impactful project” of her career.
