James Gunn has released six character posters that usher in the arrival of the DCU’s metahumans this summer in Superman.
The posters feature David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Krypto the Super Dog, Robot #4 who is voiced by Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl.
Update: Gunn unleashes the bad guys starting with Metamorpho, played by Anthony Carrigan. Lex Luthor is next, played by Nicholas Hoult, with Maria Gabriela de Faria as The Engineer. Posters also include Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.

James Gunn responded on Threads to a fan questioning what a metahuman is: “‘In DC Comics, a metahuman is a human-like being with extraordinary, often paranormal, abilities. These powers can arise from a variety of sources, including science, magic, alien origins, mutation, divinity, proficiency, or technology.'” Therefore 4 is probably not a metahuman but Terrific arguably is. Krypto is meta but I won’t say he’s not human because he might read this,” said Gunn.

Marketing has been ramping up, and there’s been lots of merchandise revealed and such.

Superman, the first DC Studios feature to hit theaters, arrives July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures. Written and directed by James Gunn, the film introduces a new take on the Man of Steel—one shaped by compassion and a belief in humanity—set in the rebooted DC universe.

The cast also includes Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell.

Gunn’s longtime team returns behind the scenes, including cinematographer Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky, and composers John Murphy and David Fleming. Editing is handled by William Hoy, Jason Ballantine, and Craig Alpert.

Superman is executive produced by Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo, and Lars Winther. It’s a Troll Court Entertainment / Safran Company production. The film opens internationally beginning July 9.
