Superman David Corenswet Getting Super Jacked

Superman David Corenswet Getting Super Jacked

Superman David Corenswet has made some super gains and is looking super jacked as James Gunn’s choice for the new Man of Steel.

The 30-year-old 6’3″ actor will star in Superman: Legacy which kicks off Gunn’s new DCU.

Per the images below, you can see David Corenswet transitioning from a skinny bean pole in June, to starting to get into shape for the role in September, and less than three months later he looks pretty jacked.

How big will David Corenswet get?

The latest images again feature David Corenswet hiding his frame with a baggy sweatshirt and he also sports a beard to hide his chiseled jawline. But there is no hiding the fact he has packed on the pounds as you can clearly see his frame and shoulders look pretty massive.

Filming on Superman: Legacy is expected in March so it’s likely that the actor will start cutting soon to achieve that final Superman look. Bodybuilders typically cut weight for two to four months or so before a show.

I’ll also say he looks bigger than Henry Cavill did in Man of Steel. Cavill, too, was a bean pole before he started training for the role, but Henry also packed on pounds and continued to do so even after playing the role.

David Corenswet also happens to be taller than Henry, and Corenswet is also around a whole foot taller than Gunn’s choice of Lois Lane, Rachel Brosnahan, who is listed at 5’3″, so Corenswet’s Clark Kent and Superman will look towering.

Nicholas Hoult who is said to be in talks to play Lex Luthor is also 6’3″ so those two will be seeing eye to eye.

“He’s a big ol’ galoot. He’s a farmboy from Kansas who’s very idealistic. His greatest weakness is that he’ll never kill anybody,” said Gunn about his Man of Steel. “He doesn’t want to hurt a living soul. I like that sort of innate goodness about Superman; it’s his defining characteristic. He’s not ‘All-Star Superman,’ but again, I’m a huge fan of ‘All-Star Superman,’ and I’m very inspired by [that series].”

Superman: Legacy gets released on July 11, 2025 with James Gunn writing and directing. Also starring includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi playing Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion plays Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and María Gabriela de Faría is playing The Engineer from The Authority described as a “villain,” with Anthony Carrigan cast as Metamorpho.
