Supergirl Season 5 Shows Off Ugly New Costume

As if the show isn’t bad enough already, now the Supergirl costume gets aĀ change for the worse in Season 5 as The CW released preview images for episode one, ā€œEvent Horizon.ā€

Melissa Benoist also appears to be sporting a new hairdo, which isn’t too flattering as well.

Regarding the change in costume which drops the skirt, Melissa Benoist previously said that it makes the character more adult and shows Kara evolving into a woman.

Melissa Benoist gets new Supergirl costume for Season 5

ā€œI just think it’s more adult,ā€ Benoist toldĀ EW.com in July. ā€œPart of my goal in this whole series for whenever the show ends, I just want there to be a very clear arc for this character that she evolved as a woman and found her femininity and her adulthood, just a self-discovery.

ā€œKara is always evolving and becoming more of a woman,ā€ she said. ā€œIt’s so fun to look back on season 1 and see how much she has grown. I just felt an ownership and responsibility, and what I wanted [the role] to mean to other people.ā€

The series is actually rumored to be getting canceled as Crisis on Infinite Earths is said to be causing major changes to the Arrowverse in addition to Supergirl’s ratings being not too super.

SupergirlĀ returns Sunday, Oct. 6, at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.Ā
