It looks as if those Steven McQueen as Nightwing in Arrow rumors were slightly exaggerated.

Even though the actor teased superhero discussions on Twitter and did state he was hoping to film soon as Nightwing for Arrow, now in the following video, Steven McQueen pulls back on the possibility of playing Nightwing.

McQueen says he started the whole thing by tweeting Arrow producer and writer Greg Berlanti, and then he ran with it.

It might be possible that WB pulled the plug on using Nightwing in Arrow. Previously, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg let to be known that they have to get permission to use the DC characters from WB. Maybe with Nightwing rumored for Batman VS. Superman, WB turned them down.

Or as McQueen states, he made it all up.

Here is the full text from the video.

I’m a comic book fan, for sure. I’ve read comic books since I was a kid. I’ve always enjoyed them. There’s one character, Nightwing, who’s kinda Robin when he’s grown up and he tries to make his own name and a path for himself. I think it’s a great story that hasn’t really been told. I worked with Greg Berlanti on a show called Everwood and now he’s producing Arrow and jokingly I tweeted him, being like ‘When are we going to see Nightwing?’ People started writing about it, and there was a couple articles, and I was like ‘Alright, this is kinda…I’m feeling a little powerful right now, let’s keep putting this energy in the universe, so that happens.’ But Vampire Diaries fans, I haven’t got a phone call about it yet, but if I get a chance to play a superhero, I can’t make any promises that I’m not going to run with it.
