The Mandalorian & Grogu reunites the fan-favorite pair of Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, with Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, from the Disney+ series.
What does Dave Filoni say about The Mandalorian & Grogu?
At the Skeleton Crew premiere, ExtraTV caught up with the executive vice president and chief creative officer of Lucasfilm who confirmed the film has wrapped and also updated Ahsoka Season 2.
“I’m very excited about it as well,” Filoni said. “Jon and I had a great time working on that, as we always do. It was great seeing Grogu. He’s become such a star.
Filoni continued, “It’s amazing how it’s evolved, what we can do now with the puppetry compared to Season 1 and where we are today in a film working with the team which I worked quite a bit with them on the puppetry. Legacy effects did a fantastic job, and what a wonderful little creation Grogu is.”
“Extremely exciting”
The Mandalorian & Grogu gets released on May 22, 2026 directed by Jon Favreau. Sigourney Weaver has also joined the cast.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau at the time of the film’s announcement back in January of 2024. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.
