Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spot
In addition to all the Star Wars announcements at the D23 Expo, the run time for Star Wars: The Force Awakens became known.
J.J. Abrams revealed Episode VII is currently at 124 minutes in length, which is exactly the same as Empire Strikes Back.
It should be noted the 124 minutes may not be the final run time for Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the movie is still being edited, but it’s a good general indication.
For a comparison, here are the run times of the other Star Wars films:
• A New Hope – 121 minutes
• The Empire Strikes Back – 124 minutes
• Return of the Jedi – 131 minutes
• The Phantom Menace – 133 minutes
• Attack of the Clones – 142 minutes
• Revenge of the Sith – 140 minutes
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has a December 18, 2015 release directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer.
Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.
