Marvel actor Simu Liu has thrown his support behind Melissa Barrera as a potential Wonder Woman, offering high praise while speaking about their upcoming film The Copenhagen Test.
Liu’s comments arrive as DC Studios has officially been developing a Wonder Woman movie for the DCU, with rumors suggesting the character could appear in Man of Tomorrow.
Simu Liu Praises Melissa Barrera
Speaking with JoBlo on YouTube, Liu said Barrera impressed him during production, particularly during stunt training.
“She really pushes herself,” Liu said of his The Copenhagen Test co-star. “I don’t know who might be listening to this interview, James Gunn or anybody else out there. But I think she really pushes herself.”

Liu emphasized Barrera’s physical commitment and screen presence, hinting she has the strength and intensity associated with the iconic DC hero.
“There were a couple of moments during stunt training where I was like, ‘That’s Wonder Woman-esque.’ I’m just throwing it out there,” he added.

Wonder Woman Movie Confirmed at DC Studios
James Gunn has already confirmed that a Wonder Woman movie is in development as part of the DCU.
While casting has not been announced, the project is expected to introduce a new version of Diana Prince separate from the DCEU era played by Gal Gadot.

Rumors Point to Man of Tomorrow
A recent rumor claims Gunn may be positioning Wonder Woman to appear in Man of Tomorrow, potentially setting up her solo film.
If true, casting would need to happen sooner rather than later, fueling speculation around names like Melissa Barrera.
DCU Development Status
Despite these plans, Gunn’s DCU slate appears largely paused.
Outside of Man of Tomorrow, no other DCU films are actively in production.
Reports suggest progress is tied to the pending sale of Warner Bros. Discovery, leaving the broader future of the DCU uncertain.
Gunn’s Themyscira series, which was announced when he took charge of DC, also seems to have been put on the permanent back burner.
