Showtime’s ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’ Trailer Follows David Bowie Movie

Showtime has released the trailer for The Man Who Fell To Earth TV series which looks to be sort of a sequel to the David Bowie movie from 1976 and the original Walter Tevis novel.

This time the series follows Chiwetel Ejiofor (known for playing Marvel’s Mordo) as Faraday, an alien who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future.

Bill Nighy is playing the character David Bowie made famous back in ’76, Thomas Jerome Newton, with the character described in the Showtime series as: Newton was the first alien to arrive on earth over 40 years ago. Alone and desperate, Newton summons Faraday to complete his original mission. But Newton’s time marooned among human beings has cost him everything, possibly even his sanity.

The Man Who Fell To Earth stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Naomie Harris

The movie, a cult classic, featured David Bowie as Thomas Jerome Newton who crash-lands on Earth and creates and introduces advanced technology in order to build a ship home, so it seems as if the Showtime series follows that, but Chiwetel Ejiofor as Faraday is attempting to do it in the present day.

The Man Who Fell To Earth arrives on April 24 from Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet and also stars Naomie Harris, Jimmi Simpson, Rob Delaney, Sonya Cassidy, Joana Ribeiro, Annelle Olaleye, Star Trek’s Kate Mulgrew, and Clarke Peters.

Showtime has some pretty good shows, with Billions and Yellowjackets coming to mind, so hopefully, this is another good one.
