With Ryan Reynolds receiving acclaim for his recent portrayal of Deadpool, his Green Lantern gig has been brought up a lot as of late.
The latest sees Ryan Reynolds let it be known that following the 2011 Green Lantern movie, it was tough to find a job.
"I represented the death of the superhero for a while. After Green Lantern, I was pretty much unhirable," Ryan Reynolds told Variety.
Interestingly enough, a quick check of Ryan Reynolds' IMDb account reveals the actor was pretty much right. Following Green Lantern, Reynolds was featured in The Change-Up and Safe House, which Reynolds might have already been signed on for during Green Lantern. Following those two films, Ryan Reynolds had an uncredited role in Ted and then went on to do voice work for three movies followed by another comic book movie bomb with RIPD.
It's probably a good thing that Deadpool was such a good fit with Reynolds.
"Deadpool was one of those things that was just so specific — it was like this weird superhero anarchy that I loved so much," Reynolds said. "I think I was in the superhero suit more in the marketing materials than I was in the actual film. Which is why I stole the suit at the end of production and just brought it home with me."
Ryan Reynolds is currently developing Deadpool 2 and Deadpool 3 which includes X-Force.
