If Benedict Cumberbatch wasn't able to play Doctor Strange, Marvel had their sites set on Joaquin Phoenix, Jared Leto and Ryan Gosling for the role.
With the movie now out, obviously Benedict Cumberbatch seems made for the role of Doctor Strange, but Ryan Gosling might not be a bad choice for a superhero role. If I was a betting man, I would bet Ryan Gosling is DCEU bound.
"Doctor Strange" is directed by Scott Derrickson starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen.
