It’s confirmed that Rose Byrne will reprise as Moira MacTaggert for X-Men: Apocalypse.
Simon Kinberg told EW.com the following:
“She’s a significant character in the movie,” Kinberg said. “We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them. It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class, and would like to mine more in this one.”
Kinberg continues with mention the characters will have gone through a lot by the end of the movie, but there is more to come.
“This movie is the completion of the first arcs of Charles, Eric, Raven, and Hank, who are essentially our main characters,” he explains. “They’re such young actors and young characters, so there’s a lot more story to tell. But as a first phase of their lives, there is this feeling of closure by the end of the movie.”
X-Men: Apocalypse is set in the 1980s, with Kinberg offering they are trying to incorporate as much as they can from that era, with the possibility of a certain mutant mentioned.
“That’s the era that I grew up in,” Kinberg said “The music, the fashion, the videogames: We really want to integrate all of that in the movie, and have it infuse the movie with a different vibe.
“Could happen,” Kinberg laughed in regards to Dazzler appearing.. “We’re certainly looking at mutants that would fit into the period.”
X-Men: Apocalypse has a May 7, 2016 release directed by Bryan Singer starring Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Tye Sheridan as a young Cyclops, Sophie Turner as a young Jean Grey and Alexandra Shipp as a young Storm.
