Ronda Rousey To Star In Road House Reboot

Ronda Rousey, the MMA fighter and actress fans want to see play Captain Marvel, will star in the reboot of the 80s flick Roadhouse.

Rousey will play the character of Patrick Swayze’s Dalton.

Variety first reported on the news, with Ronda Rousey confirming and commenting on Twitter.

“It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn’t be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze,” said Rousey. “I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of.”

It’s reported MGM is currently meeting with writers for the script.

Rousey reached out to Swayze’s widow, Lisa Niemi, asking for her blessing to star in the remake, which according to the report, insiders say Niemi gladly gave.

Road House debuted in 1989 quickly becoming a cult classic as Swayze starred as the badass bouncer, James Dalton, who helps clean up a rowdy bar in Missouri as well as protects the town from a corrupt businessman. Swayze passed away in 2009 due to pancreatic cancer.
