If you grew up in the 80s, First Blood was a big part of your childhood!
What kid didnât go around pretending to be Rambo with a machine gun and a bandanna tied around their head?!
I know we all did!
While speaking at a recent press event in Beverly Hills, Sylvester Stallone offers up his character, Rambo, was in part responsible for him joining the MCU and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Stallone offers (via Inside The Magic):
âEarly on in my career I became fascinated with mythology. Joseph Campbellâs âHero with a Thousand Faces,â and so on and so forth. When I started doing âRambo,â [I came to understand] thereâs an evolution that takes place. Every generation has to find itself, define its own heroes, define its own mythology. And [the MCU] is this generationâsâ and maybe even the next generationâsâ mythology. And when Kevin invited me on board I said, âThis is interesting because I havenât gone here. Iâm kind of Earth-bound. Iâm terrestrial. This is something that takes place in a whole other sphere where James and the Marvel people have created their own world, their own reality.â
So I said, âYeah, let me visit. Let me drop in here and see whatâs up, where the future is going.â And it was great. It got me out of the house [away] from my three daughters. And thatâs why I gave them my salary back.â
