What kid didnāt go around pretending to be Rambo with a machine gun and a bandanna tied around their head?!
I know we all did!
While speaking at a recent press event in Beverly Hills, Sylvester Stallone offers up his character, Rambo, was in part responsible for him joining the MCU and Guardians of the Galaxy 2.Ā Stallone offers (via Inside The Magic):
āEarly on in my career I became fascinated with mythology. Joseph Campbellās āHero with a Thousand Faces,ā and so on and so forth. When I started doing āRambo,ā [I came to understand] thereās an evolution that takes place. Every generation has to find itself, define its own heroes, define its own mythology. And [the MCU] is this generationāsā and maybe even the next generationāsā mythology. And when Kevin invited me on board I said, āThis is interesting because I havenāt gone here. Iām kind of Earth-bound. Iām terrestrial. This is something that takes place in a whole other sphere where James and the Marvel people have created their own world, their own reality.ā
So I said, āYeah, let me visit. Let me drop in here and see whatās up, where the future is going.ā And it was great. It got me out of the house [away] from my three daughters. And thatās why I gave them my salary back.ā
