As if we needed any more proof that The Marvels is a massive failure, now it’s claimed that a planned Photon series spinning off from the movie has been canceled.
The Marvels is the worst MCU movie of all time
The Marvels starring Brie Larson and Iman Vellani is the MCU’s worst movie of all time at the box office and also the worst-performing superhero movie of all time as the second weekend dropped a record 78.1%.
The intended target audience certainly didn’t come out to see the flick, with only the bottom of the barrel Marvel fanboys showing up.
Disney has also confirmed The Marvels lost them $200 million, and there is doubt Brie Larson will be sticking around the MCU and that Captain Marvel 3 will happen.
Post-credit scene flopped
The post-credit scene also didn’t go as well as expected, which didn’t drum up any excitement for the MCU.
The scene features Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau in a different universe meeting her mother and the X-Men’s beast.
What does the rumor say?
Well, it turns out Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, who first appeared in WandaVision, was supposed to get her own Disney+ series as Photon, but according to scooper Daniel RPK, it didn’t happen when The Marvels bombed at the box office and with nearly 90% of Marvel fans that didn’t go see the movie.
The scooper now says Monica Rambeau’s “story will now continue in another project.”
Following the big busts for Quantumania and The Marvels as well as the MCU shows on Disney+, Disney CEO Bob Iger has on more than once occasion stated Disney is pulling back on Marvel, which obviously proves the MCU hasn’t been successful.
A series centered around Monica Rambeau (Photon) was reportedly in the works at Marvel Studios but following ‘THE MARVELS’ reception, it was axed.
