No Tom Holland For Spider-Man: Freshman Year

The voice cast for the Spider-Man: Freshman Year animated series coming to Disney+ becomes known and it doesn’t include Tom Holland.

Again thanks to the U.S. Copyright Office which offered info on Dardevil: Born Again, Agatha and Ironheart, a listing for the upcoming Spider-Man: Freshman year lists the voice cast.

The series has been officially been described by Marvel (see below) as following Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, but per the U.S. Copyright listing, Tom Holland won’t be voicing Spidey, who will be voiced by Hudson Thames.

According to his IMDb, this isn’t the first time Hudson Thames has voiced Spider-Man, as he provides the voice for Spidey in the 2022 short, Avengers: Quantum Encounter, as well as the MCU’s Marvel Zombies episode of What If…?

I think when Spider-Man: Freshman Year was first announced as being a part of the MCU, fans probably thought Tom Holland might be voicing Spidey, but instead Marvel is going with Hudson Thames who has already voiced Spidey, and let’s be honest, probably comes at a much cheaper price.

I also don’t think there is anything to worry about in regards to Tom Holland continuing to play the live-action version in the MCU, again, as Marvel seems to be going with a different voice actor likely for cost reasons.

Spider-Man 4 has already been said to be happening by Kevin Feige, and the head of Sony, as Sony owns the Spidey film rights.

Who is the Spider-Man: Freshman Year voice cast?

The U.S. Copyright Office lists:

• Grace Song as Nico Minoru
• Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius
• Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May
• Zeno Robinson as Harry Osborn

The Marvel Animation panel at the recent San Diego Comic-Con also confirmed Charlie Cox voicing Matt Murdock and Daredevil, and that the series will feature Amadeus Cho, Rhino, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, and more.

What is Spider-Man: Freshman Year about?

Disney+ Day 2021 is here, and it’s kicking into high gear with brand new announcements coming out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with what’s to come from the streaming service. During Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ Day Special — which is currently streaming exclusively on Disney+ — it was announced that viewers will get a new look at Peter Parker in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Freshman Year. 

The animated series follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots. Written by Executive Producer Jeff Trammel.

The sequel is also in the works at Disney+ dubbed “Sophomore year.”
