No Silver Surfer For Laurence Fishburne; It's Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur

Back in December saw Laurence Fishburne tease a secret Marvel project–one not associated with his upcoming role as Dr. Bill Foster in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Laurence Fishburne actually went to Marvel to pitch a different project, but it couldn’t happen due to legal reasons, so Marvel asked Fishburne to be in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Marvel then asked Laurence Fishburne if he wanted to be involved in another project, which we now know is not the Silver Surfer unfortunately (hey, a kid can dream*), but the project is actually a Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur animated series for Disney Channel.

Deadline reports Disney Channels Worldwide is developing Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (working title), an animated series based on the popular comic book series with Laurence Fishburne on board as executive producer along with Helen Sugland via Cinema Gypsy Productions and Marvel Animation.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur follows the adventures of nine-year-old super-genius Lunella Lafayette, an African-American girl who teams up with her crimson-colored dinosaur and uses her smarts to save the day.

It’s noted the project is still in development and it has not been decided yet which of Disney Channels Worldwide’s domestic outlets — Disney Channel, Disney XD or Disney Junior — it would air on if it gets a green light.

(It probably should be also noted that Marvel Animation is not associated with Marvel Studios.)

*Laurence Fishburne voiced the Silver Surfer in the 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer movie, and with it learned that Disney is purchasing Fox Studios, it was hoped Fishburne would be back as the voice of Norrin Radd.

Who is the most iconic superhero?
