Nicholas Hoult is talking more about his turn as Lex Luthor in Superman: Man of Tomorrow, offering new insight into James Gunn’s direction for the character and the film.
Speaking with Variety, Hoult called it a privilege to join the long line of actors who have played Superman’s most iconic villain.
“There’s been so many wonderful actors who’ve played Lex. So I feel honored to be another one, another name added to that list,” Hoult said. “And I just love what James Gunn writes, how he wants to portray that character, evolve the character going forward as well. So I feel like I’m in safe hands with him, and it’s a character that I really enjoy playing. It makes me happy.”

Hoult Calls Gunn’s Script “Awesome”
Hoult also described Gunn’s script for Man of Tomorrow as “awesome.”
Gunn previously said: “It is a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat. And it’s more complicated than that, but that’s a big part of it. It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.”

Brainiac Rumored As the Main Villain
That “bigger threat” is widely rumored to be Brainiac, though Gunn has not confirmed the villain publicly. Rumors for Brainiac include Matt Smith, Claes Bang, and Sam Rockwell.
