Matthew McConaughey Passes On Villain Role For Guardians of the Galaxy 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22695:]]

Earlier it was learned Pom Klementieff has been cast in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in a mystery role (maybe Mantis?), and now it’s learned Marvel and James Gunn wanted Matthew McConaughey to play the film’s villain.

In their own report on Klementieff getting cast, Variety mentions: “Marvel and Gunn wanted Matthew McConaughey to play the villain in the superhero sequel, but the actor recently passed, leaving the search for that part still in progress. Sources say that decision should be made in the coming weeks, as production is expected to begin in early 2016.”

A few months ago saw McConaughey make mention he has read a few Marvel and DC scripts.

Any guesses who the villain could be?

He might have played a good Adam Warlock/Magus.

“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” has a May 5, 2017 release.

Power Rangers 2017 Movie Title & Characters Revealed

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22691:]]

Update: The following info may be wrong as Saban has confirmed they are using original characters names.

With four of the five rangers cast in the upcoming Power Rangers movie, new details about the characters and title have become known.

According to Collider, the official title for the movie is Saban’s Power Rangers, with Saban being co-creator Haim Saban.

It’s said Saban’s script is currently being tweaked with the relevation of the names of the Power Rangers in the film as follows:

• Callum Oliver – The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus

• Priya Patel – The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl

• Brian Olson – The Blue Ranger/Triceratops

• Oscar Fernandez – The Black Ranger/Mastodon

• Teyana Jones – The Yellow Ranger/Sabre-tooth Tiger

It’s suggested the use of new names may mean Saban’s Power Rangers may not be a reboot and will feature an all-new team, and we also see each Power Ranger is paired up with their respective Zord.

It’s also said the original costumes will be appearing, but in what capacity is unknown.

The budget is also said to be at $35 million, which as noted may sound low, but it’s similar to Maze Runner and the cast is composed of virtual unknowns.

“Saban’s Power Rangers” has a January 13, 2017 release.

James Gunn Under Attack By Pretend Feminazis Again

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22690:]]

Cosmic Book News recently posted the casting call information for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which includes mention of needing beautiful men and women as extras.

Well, that has apparently set off the “feminist” Mary Sue website who spun an article insinuating ugly (normal?) women aren’t wanted.

And of course some on the internet followed suit as James Gunn has taken to Twitter to defend himself and the movie.

I’m not a fan of the Mary Sue website at all as they regularly spin their articles in favor of women over men. The site is actually owned by some white rich dude from NYC by the name of Dan Abrams who regularly contributes to The View (need we say more). It’s pretty obvious the site’s gimmick is being pro-women, not that there is anything wrong with that, but when they spin BS articles like this one just for the sake of a headline and page views, that’s when it crosses the line.

I do like Gunn (never met the guy), and he comes off as a straight-shooter, so I have a lot of respect for him. His defense about the casting call (not that he really need one) is that this is only the first of many.

It should probably also be noted this isn’t the first time the Mary Sue website has attacked Gunn as following Gunn being announced as the director on Guardians of the Galaxy, the Mary Sue attacked Gunn because of some of his blog postings, but mind you only AFTER Gunn was announced as a Marvel director (how convenient).

For what it’s worth, I recently attended a cool panel at the recent NYCC where a comic book artist stated the Mary Sue created some BS uproar because of his artwork.

Yeah.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Casts Pom Klementieff Possibly As Mantis

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22689:]]

Update: It’s reported Pom Klementieff is playing Mantis.

Do we have our Mantis for Guardians of the Galaxy 2?

THR reports Marvel and James Gunn have conducted a wide search for a mystery part, which called for an Asian actress, with relatively unknown French actress Pom Klementieff getting the gig in what is said to be a new key role for the film.

We can speculate it may be Mantis, who in the Marvel comics is half-Vietnamese and a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the comics.

Klementief did appear in Spike Lee’s recent remake of Japanese thriller Oldboy in a role that demanded physicality and martial arts. In the comics, Mantis is a grandmistress of the martial arts capable of defeating Captain America and has telepathic and precognitive abilities.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has a May 5, 2017 release.

Captain America: Civil War Trailer Speculated With Star Wars: The Force Awakens

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22683:]]

In a no-brainer, it’s being speculated the Captain America: Civil War trailer will be attached to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Marvel Studios hasn’t released any footage other than special trailers for various conventions, and the only thing the general public has seen is leaked images and gifs.

It’s possible Disney/Marvel may have learned from Avengers: Age Of Ultron that you don’t have to release three-quarters of the movie online prior to the release as not only has the Captain America: Civil War trailer not been released, but J.J. Abrams has also released only a limited amount of Star Wars: The Force Awakens material.

Regarding Avengers 2, really the only footage that wasn’t released prior to the movie was the film’s conclusion. A majority of us online follow all the news rather closely, so if you watched all the Age Of Ultron spots and trailers, it’s a good bet the movie was spoiled for you, which may have resulted in a disappointing or lackluster viewing (raises hand).

There is a rumor going around that the Captain America: Civil War trailer is being attached to Sony’s James Bond Spectre; however, according to Collider that isn’t true.

It’s also pointed out that the potential Russo Bros. Twitter account tweeted out a pic from a Star Wars poster, which in essence is confirming the Captain America: Civil War trailer with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in December.

Of course, the tweet could also be hinting at Taskmaster, but who knows.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” hits December 18th.

Mark Ruffalo Says We’ll See Thor Vs. Hulk In Ragnarok

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22681:]]

Thor: Ragnarok is confirmed to feature Mark Ruffalo as Banner and the Hulk with it previously said the Odinson will team up with the Green Goliath. Now we learn not only will the two Assemblers team up, but they will battle as well.

The NY Daily News caught up with Ruffalo who offered: “I don’t really know that much about it, but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner. I think they’ll probably fight. There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.”

Ruffalo continued with mention of what he does know about the film.

“I know that it’s about (the Norse legends of) ‘Ragnarok,’ or the end times in the Marvel universe as it pertains to Thor — which seems to be quite the theme these days in movies,” Ruffalo said.

As mentioned above, Ruffalo says the film with be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner, which is interesting as Ruffalo recently hinted at a separation between the Hulk and his human counterpart.

“Thor: Ragnarok” has a November 3, 2017 release directed by Taika Waititi starring Chris Hemsworth.

David Goyer Defends Man Of Steel & Talks Christopher Nolan Batman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22675:]]

David Goyer recently appeared on a Nerdist podcast where he talked about creating the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, mentioned how studios want to emulate Disney and Star Wars, and he also defended Man of Steel.

Below you can check out the podcast and text (via indiewire):

Nolan Batman:

“We got lucky in that ‘Batman and Robin’ had not done well. And there had been a lot of who people who had attempted to do Batman films in the interim. Mark Protosevichhad written another one, and there was going to be an R-rated [Darren] Aronofsky one, and Boaz Yakin was going to do ‘Batman Beyond,’ and[Andrew] Kevin Walker did a ‘Batman [and] Superman, there were all these stillborn things that had not happened in the intervening period. So by time Chris and I came along they knew they had to do something radical. And they were kind of desperate. I just remember when I got the job, everyone was saying, both online and amongst my friends, ‘Oh, that’ll never get made.’ “

“We knew that we were coming in from a deficit. There was negative connotation with the character, so we had to get past that, much less it even being a good movie. We were aware that it had to be radically different, but that said, it wasn’t the guiding principle. I don’t think you can create something just as a reaction to something. The guiding principle was, ‘What if we play it straight?’ And then reverse engineer it down to everything, the utility belt, the Batmobile…the previous Batmobiles that had been in the [Tim] Burton films, that was not a practical car. You could barely turn a corner. So we just said, ‘What if it’s real?’ ”

Shared movie universes:

“I think [audiences] are savvy to do the idea that, ‘Oh, this isn’t a film, this is a piece of commerce now, in this ongoing franchise.’ If you go to the studios now, everyone wants story universes because they’ve seen what Marvel or what Lucasfilm has done. Not to say that what Marvel and Lucasfilm have done isn’t amazing, but all the other studios want to do the exact same thing. And so you’ve got, whether they’re successful or not, all these different studios saying, ‘How do we keep up with our own elite universe?’ Now it’s not just enough to say, ‘Oh, I hope this is a three movie franchise,’ it’s ‘Oh, I hope this is a nine movie…’ — it’s a ten year plan.”

“You’ve got all these projects — and I won’t name them — that are going out there that’s like, ‘This is going to be the first in a projected eight movie thing.’ And you’re like, ‘How about starting with just making a good movie?.’ There have been a lot of good sequels, and it’s really hard to do a third film. It’s incredibly hard to do it the third time out, especially if you’re not designing them to be one long story. In the Batman films, we weren’t. When we finished ‘The Dark Knight,’ we didn’t say, ‘We’ve set these seeds to do x, y and z.’ We had no idea what we were going to do. Chris always felt like, each movie has to have its own integrity, and if you have a great idea, use it, and don’t think about a sequel. And if you do that really well, it becomes harder to do a sequel. But at the same time, if you’re trying to do a presumptive trilogy, I think audiences are starting to catch on to this, and be a little weary of it.”

Man of Steel:

“The way I work, the way Chris works, is you do what’s right for the story. That exists entirely separately from what fans should or shouldn’t think of that character. You have to do what’s right for the story. In that instance, this was a Superman who had only been Superman for like, a week. He wasn’t Superman as we think of him in the DC Comics…or even in a world that conceived of Superman existing. He’d only flown for the first time a few days before that. He’d never fought anyone that had super powers before. And so he’s going up against a guy who’s not only super-powered, but has been training since birth to use those super powers, who exists as a superhuman killing machine, who has stated, ‘I will never stop until I destroy all of humanity.’ “

“If you take Superman out of it, what’s the right way to tell that story? I think the right way to tell that story is if you take this powered alien who says, ‘You can have your race back, but you have to kill your adopted race,’ the moral, horrible situation to be in is to actually be forced to kill, not wanting to, the only other person from your race. Take Superman aside, I think that’s the right way to tell that story.”

Vision Rumored For Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor 3 & Captain America: Civil War Spoilers

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22674:]]

Potenial spoilers for Paul Bettany’s Vision have landed online in regards to Captain America: Civil War and what follows.

The Hashtag Show YouTube Channel states a source that previously filled them in about Vision in Avengers 2 is now offering the following. The video can also be watched below.

The Vision will be in a relationship with Scarlet Witch in Civil War.

While Captain America: Civil War concept art revealed Vision as part of Iron Man’s team, he won’t be staying there.

The Vision will be Tony Stark’s opposition throughout the film and jump over to Captain America’s team.

After major events that occur in the film, the Vision will be leaving Earth for space.

It’s speculated Vision could appear in Thor: Ragnarok, which is similar to the Hulk who will appear in Thor 3 as well. Furthermore, Thor’s Avengers 2 vision featured the Mind Gem in space.

Another possibility is that Vision could end up in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 with the Mind Gem, perhaps tying into Adam Warlock somehow.

It’s suggested Thanos needs to acquire the Mind Gem, so this is why Vision would need to go out into space.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

No More Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailers Says J.J. Abrams; Comments On Evil Luke (Video)

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer #3

The above video is the last Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer you will get to see.

While there will be TV spots released, J.J. Abrams lets it be known no more Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers are in the works.

“We’re getting very close. The next this is going to be the movie,” Abrams said. “There will be commercials, but no more trailers.”

Abrams also commented on the theory of Luke Skywalker going to the Dark Side.

“Yeah, I saw that, too. I’m always interested in seeing people’s theories,” Abrams offered. “What’s cool is when people finally see the movie, see what it really is, hopefully some people will say ‘I was right!’ other people will be like ‘arhhh [shakes fist.]’ You want people to be debating things even before the movie comes out. It’s a dream.”

Watch: Anthony Mackie Doesn’t Like Man of Steel

“What was the last good DC movie you saw?” Mackie asks in the above video before he proceeds to argue against Man of Steel being a good movie.

Of course Anthony Mackie is a Marvel man and will be appearing in Captain America: Civil War, which follows Batman Vs. Superman.

Interestingly enough, Marvel announced Captain America vs. Iron Man following WB’s announcement of Batman Vs. Superman. The two movies even originally shared the same release date prior to WB moving up BvS to March.

There has been an ongoing battle between Marvel and DC, with the most previous coming from Zack Snyder with mention that Ant-Man was a flavor of the week movie.

Years ago also saw Robert Downey Jr. state f-ck DC Comics about Nolan’s The Dark Knight:

The Dark Knight. “My whole thing is that that I saw The Dark Knight. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved The Prestige but didn’t understand The Dark Knight. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it. This is so high brow and so fucking smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? Fuck DC comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from.”

The new Aquaman followed that up recently as a fan requested Jason Momoa write “F— Marvel” on a poster:

It’s No Accident Luke Skywalker Is Missing From Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer #3

Noticeably absent from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers, promotion and merchandise is Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker (though an image has leaked online), which director JJ Abrams offers is no accident.

“These are good questions to be asking,” Abrams responded to the Sydney Herald. “I can’t wait for you to find out the answer. It’s no accident.”

Abrams also offered an update on the final cut of the movie.

“The visual effects process goes on for so long that my guess is we’ll be doing visual effects for the next three or four weeks even though the cut will be done before then,” Abrams said. “We’re in the editing room working on the cut going over visual effects and doing reviews. We still have scoring session with John Williams who is a god when it comes to music. So it’s been an ongoing surreal experience, and I just cannot wait for the movie to be out in the world.”

Abrams also let it be known he is really excited by the fact that non-Star Wars fans want to see the movie.

“We were all thrilled that the trailer was seen and embraced, and especially people who said they are really not fans of Star Wars, but are interested in seeing this thing now. It’s a testament to the amazing work this cast and crew have done and the studio in rolling out the movie in the way they have.”

Robert Downey Jr. Dresses As Tigger For Young Fan Suffering From Cystic Fibrosis

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22649:]]

Robert Downey Jr. continues to prove he is the hero of choice, which may not bode well for Captain America this coming March.

The mother of a young fan suffering from cystic fibrosis has posted on Instagram stating there is nothing her son would like better than to meet the real life Iron Man.

“This is my son Daniel and he has cystic fibrosis.” Vicky Keyte said. “He is seven years old and wants nothing more to meet his idol Robert Downey Jr (aka iron man) as he has managed to get past the bullies he faces from day to day by telling them the he too has a extra special port in his chest much like iron man has his arc reactor, I am sharing this in hope that mr stark (as Daniel calls him out of the suit) could find a way to contact me on here as Daniel could really do with a little lift at the moment after a child at school has told him that all children with cf die. If this reaches him and Daniel could get a reply I hope that it could help him through his stay in hospital as it is starting to take its toll on him.”

Robert Downey Jr. has taken notice of the request and reached out to invite young Daniel to the premiere of Captain America: Civil War — dressed as Tigger from Winnie the Poo.

“Mr. Stark here. This is for Daniel (@envy_coatings) who was having a rough day recently. When I’m in the dumps, I’ve found this little getup to be helpful. P.S. Would you like to come to the LA premiere of Captain America: Civil War as my guest? If so, have your people call my people. All the best.”

Robert Downey Jr. is known for his charitable superhero deeds as in the past the actor has surprised kids at a PAL premiere of Iron Man 3, surprised kids at a Comic-Con costume contest, and gave a bionic arm to a 7-year-old.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.
