New ‘Mercy’ Trailer Drops As Chris Pratt Faces A.I. Judge In Real Time

Amazon MGM Studios released the new trailer for Mercy, giving the biggest look yet at Chris Pratt’s high-stakes sci-fi thriller ahead of its January 23, 2026 theatrical release.

The footage confirms the movie was filmed for IMAX and will also play in 3D, with Pratt telling fans, “You are going to want to see this in 3D!”

What is Mercy about?

In the near future, a detective (Chris Pratt) stands on trial accused of murdering his wife.

He has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced A.I. Judge (Rebecca Ferguson) he once championed, before it determines his fate.

Cast and Creative Team

Rebecca Ferguson takes center stage as the emotionless A.I. judge, with Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan and Kylie Rogers appearing as part of Pratt’s inner circle and the forces working against him.

The film comes from director Timur Bekmambetov and writer Marco van Belle, produced by Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, Bekmambetov and Majd Nassif, with Mark Moran and Todd Williams serving as executive producers.

IMAX, 3D, and Theatrical Release

Mercy was shot for IMAX and designed for a full theatrical experience, with Amazon positioning the movie as a major early-2026 release. It hits theaters January 23, 2026, unopposed on opening weekend and backed by a campaign pushing the immersive 3D presentation.
