New 'Men in Black Movie' in the Works at Sony

Sony is gearing up to revive another major franchise as a new Men in Black movie is officially in development.

Deadline reports that Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner has been hired to script the next installment.

Will Smith Expected to Get the Script First

While no cast is attached, insiders for the site say Will Smith will be among the first to receive Bremner’s finished script.

Sony hopes to bring Agent J back in some form, though it’s unclear if Smith would star or appear in a supporting, legacy-style role.

Smith is not committed and won’t make a decision until he reads the draft.

Franchise Remains a Major Sony Asset

The Men in Black series has pulled in nearly $2 billion worldwide across four films, starting with the 1997 original. Its ongoing value (aside from the 2019 Men in Black: International bust starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson) mirrors the studio’s recent success in reviving the Bad Boys franchise—another project tied to Bremner.

The movie is in early development, so producing deals aren’t set, though past entries were produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer.
