Matthew Vaughn What His Superman Man of Steel 2 Would Be Like

Matthew Vaughn recently confirmed he had spoken with Warner Bros. about a new Superman movie, thought to be Man of Steel 2.

Matthew Vaughn recently told Hey U Guys, “I am at this stage right now. I am planning another Kingman, I’ve written the treatment and some of the scenes
I don’t know what I’m going to do next but I have had chats about Superman. I love Superman. I like superheroes
”

Now Collider recently spoke with Matthew Vaughn while the director was promoting Kingsman: The Secret Service, and Matthew Vaughn offered up what his new Superman movie would be like if given the chance to do it, which does sound different than Zack Snyder’s approach.

“Weirdly if I did do Superman—and I made the mistake of telling someone yesterday I have spoken about it and then wallop (laughs)—I think my main take would be, it’s really boring but make a Superman film. I just don’t feel a proper Superman—I think Donner did it to perfection for that time. Just doing the modern—I wanna do a modern version of the Donner [version]. Go back to the source material
For me Superman is color, feel-good, heroic. He’s a beacon of light in darkness. And that’s what I think Superman should be.”

Henry Cavill Superman Justice League

As the article notes, Matthew Vaughn on a new Superman movie or Man of Steel 2 is far from a done deal.

Matthew Vaughn did actually state something similar back in 2010 previous to WB going with Snyder and Goyer’s vision of the character in Man of Steel.

“I think that’s the one thing not to do with Superman, trying to do the serious The Dark Knight version,” Matthew Vaughn told MTV. “Superman is about color and fun, or it should be, for me.”

Henry Cavill is set to return as Superman this November in Justice League where it’s thought Superman might be a bit brighter and more colorful, but at the same time it’s also been rumored Superman may be featured in his black costume from the comics as a darker and more evil version of himself.

Less than two months to go to find out.
