Good news for fans of the Dark Knight as it’s learned Matt Reeves is a huge fan of Batman!
While talking with the Daily News, Matt Reeves says he was obsessed with Batman as a kid!
“It’s a strange thing to be involved in the two franchises which were the two that I was connected to most as a child,” Reeves says. “I just was obsessed with Batman when I was a kid.”
Matt Reeves was recently announced to be Ben Affleck’s replacement as the new director on the solo Batman movie, and if Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes are anything to go by, we couldn’t have anyone that’s better in the director’s chair!
“What I find so interesting about him as a character is that, as far a superhero goes, he’s not superhuman, he is a person,” Reeves offers. “And he is a tortured soul who is grappling with his past and trying to find a way to be in a world that has a lot that’s wrong with it and trying to find a way to reconcile all of that. That is a really powerful character, in the same way that Caesar is such a powerful character.”
Not much is known about Matt Reeves’ new Batman movie, but Reeves looks to start digging into Batman some time after July, which is when War for the Planet of the Apes gets released (July 14th).
