Marvel Rumored To Kill Off Sebastian Stan As Winter Soldier

Another white dude in the MCU will be meeting his maker, according to a rumor that offers Marvel will be killing off Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier in Thunderbolts.

A pair of Twitter scoopers made comments suggesting that Winter Soldier will get killed by The Sentry.

Steven Yeun’s Sentry to kill off The Winter Soldier

Rumors offer that Steven Yeun is playing a version of the Sentry in Thunderbolts (Marvel Comics is also replacing The Sentry, go figure), where CanWeGetSome Toasts insinuates Sentry losing control to his evil alter ego, the Void, will end with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, getting killed off.

“Well funny you mention that since Bucky DOES run into the #Sentry (the man with the power of a million suns) in #Thunderbolts…” teases the scooper. “What happens when Bob loses control to The Void?”

Update: THR says a draft of the movie features an ending where they all die.

Winter Soldier should have been the new Captain America

Sebastian Stan made his debut in the MCU in Captain America: The First Avenger back in 2011, and the actor went on to star in the Super Soldier video game in 2011, Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, Captain America: Civil War in 2016, Black Panther in 2018, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and the Disney+ shows The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What… If?.

Though Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes was the obvious choice to follow Chris Evans as the new Captain America, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige chose to go with the non-powered Anthony Mackie Falcon, and now according to this rumor, Feige and co. are killing off Bucky. What a surprise.

Captain America: Brave New World gets released on July 26, 2024, with Thunderbolts on December 20, 2024.
