Mark Millar Hints At Martin Freeman’s Role In Captain America: Civil War

[page_title]

Martin Freeman is the latest addition to the ever-growing list of actors in Captain America: Civil War.

There are many fan theories who Freeman might be playing, but writer of the comic, Mark Millar, does know specifics.

Millar teases (via Radio Times) that it’s not a superhero, and to somebody familiar with Marvel, that it’s obvious.

I know who he’s playing in the film, but I guess it’s still a secret. The character is not a super-person, it’s somebody who’s… well, I don’t want to spoil it for anybody but he’s not going to be in costume. He’s a great actor he could play anyone – he could play Hit-Girl! Once you get to see it, it’s so obvious. All I’ll say is, he’s not [Captain America villain] the Red Skull.

The current speculation is that Martin Freeman may be playing Everett Ross, a government liason to Wakanda (home of the Black Panther); another guess it that Freeman could be playing Henry Gyrich, a U.S. govt. liason to the Avengers; a third guess is that Freeman may be playing Norman Osborn, and a fourth guess is J. Jonah Jameson.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Synopsis:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
