With Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne re-teaming for John Wick 2, and with the movie having what seemed to be a few nods to Neo and Morpheus, how about the pair doing a fourth Matrix movie?
While speaking with the LA times about Justice League and Batman vs. Superman and John Wick 2, Laurence Fishburne and Keanu Reeves briefly touch upon another Matrix film.
Now before you get your hopes up, the pair don't specifically mention they are going to do another Matrix movie, just that Keanu Reeves gets excited in regards to how much pressure they would be under from fans if they did do another Matrix. Here's the blurb:
Fishburne: It’s true. People always ask me, “Will there be another ‘Matrix’? Is there more?” If we were to ever do something like that, can you imagine the pressure we’d be under?
Reeves: [smiling] Yeah, it would be awesome! You’ve got to go into the fire!
Actually, back in 2014 a rumor surfaced that Matrix 4 was in development as WB wanted something to take on Disney's Star Wars franchise.
The Matrix 4 rumor said The Wachowski's had already started the writing process and handed in a treatment to the studio, which was around the time Jupiter Ascending was released.
However, obviously nothing ever came of a possible Matrix 4, and still we wait.
The first Matrix movie debuted in 1999, with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix: Revolutions in 2003.
