Cue Hans Zimmer’s music score—Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has taken his cool factor to a new level by purchasing a $3 million replica of Batman’s Tumbler from The Dark Knight trilogy.
While off the field he might look more like a Batman villain (go Bills!), on the field there is no denying he is a superhero, and now he gets to drive in style like one.
Joe Burrow’s $3 Million Batmobile
Burrow’s new ride is one of only ten high-end replicas created by Warner Bros. in partnership with Relevance International. These exclusive Tumblers are fully functional vehicles designed to mimic the iconic Batmobile from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight movies, though they come with some real-world limitations.
Via the Wayne Enterprises website that was created to promote the Tumblers:
“The original model was made from parts of model cars, boats, and planes, creating the iconic angular shape of the Tumbler. The rest is cinematic and auto cultural history.”
“Limited production of 10 Wayne Enterprises Tumblers, fully functional iconic ‘Batmobile,’ are exclusively being sold by invitation only. These highly collectable Tumbler Batmobiles are officially sanctioned by Warner Bros. and will be available for sale to an exclusive audience of avid car collectors.”
While the original Tumbler in the films is powered by a jet engine, the replica has a “Powertrain 6.2L LS3 525 HP Engine with 486FT Ibs Torque.” They’ve also added a “Jet Engine Simulation” but “No flames.” The interior also spots 10-inch screens, air conditioning, an original style dashboard and trim package, and 5-point racing car seat harnesses for two.
Burrow’s Batman Fandom
Burrow revealed his purchase to his Bengals teammates last week (watch the video below):
“Have I told you I bought a Batmobile?”
Wide receiver Tee Higgins responded, “Did you get it yet, though?”
Burrow admitted, “I don’t get it for, like, a year, but I bought it.”
The teammates joked about how the Tumbler could fit into Burrow’s lifestyle, with Ja’Marr Chase suggesting, “You gotta go to the vengeance Batman when he had that — ass eye thing on.”
Burrow quipped, “What if I wore the full Batsuit and Batmobile to every game? 500 [yards] and 7 touchdowns—I’d wear it again.”
Higgins also said he was going to take it to the club, which drew laughs.
The Cincinnati Bengals are currently playing the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football, in the 3rd quarter, the teams are tied 17-17. Burrow has thrown for two touchdowns, one to Chase and one to Brown. Update: With less than 2 minutes to go, the Cowboys blocked a punt but it was touched by a Dallas player. Cinci recovered and got the ball back. Burrow led them down the field and threw a pass to Chase who ran for a 40-yard TD to win the game, 27-20.
