Jeremy Renner Saved Us From Woke Hawkeye Season 2 Starring Hailee Steinfeld

Jeremy Renner not only plays a hero on the big screen — he’s a hero in real life too, having just saved us from Hawkeye Season 2 starring Hailee Steinfeld, which likely would have been even more woke than the original.

The Disney+ Hawkeye series embarrassingly replaces Renner with Steinfeld, who is the best archer ever. It’s so bad that they mock Renner and the character by having him become trapped in a Christmas tree, where Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop has to shoot him down.

Hawkeye also begins the emasculation of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin in the MCU, which continued in the recent Daredevil: Born Again series that no one watched.

Renner is also not confirmed for the new Avengers movies, while Steinfeld has seemingly confirmed she’s back as Kate Bishop, who was also featured in that post-credit scene in The Marvels with Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel. The scene steals from the Iron Man post-credit scene with Robert Downey Jr. and Nick Fury forming the Avengers, while Ms. Marvel and Bishop seemingly form the Young Avengers (rumors offer that the actors are now too old).

What did Jeremy Renner say about Hawkeye Season 2?

While speaking with High Performance, Renner reveals Disney/Marvel wanted to pay him half the money he made in Season 1. While Renner doesn’t say it specifically, that sounds like Renner would be in the series, potentially half as much. Of course, that would mean Hawkeye Season 2 would be all about the woke Hailee Steinfeld Kate Bishop in the M-She-U.

Another big possibility is that they wanted to cut Renner’s pay grade because Disney has cut all the MCU budgets on Disney+. They’re no longer getting hundreds of millions of dollars a show as a result of the poor viewership.

ā€œThey asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money. I’m like, ā€˜Well, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount,ā€™ā€ he said.

Renner explains he thinks the reason for the pay cut was because of the accident that nearly cost him his life when he got run over by a snowplow.

ā€œI’m like, ā€˜I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season,ā€™ā€ he said.

Renner did add it wasn’t Marvel making the pay cut or even Disney but the accountants (again, budgets have been massively cut).

ā€œThis is not Marvel, mind you. This is like, just Disney, not even really Disney. It’s just the penny pinchers, the accountants. I told them to go fly a kite. I mean, just at the at the insult offer. So we didn’t see eye to eye on it,ā€ Renner continued, adding that he’s not ruling out a return to Hawkeye in the future. ā€œSadly, I still love the character. I’d still love to do it, but I I had to defend myself. I didn’t ask for any more money, mind you. Just pay me what I made made the first season. So it’s all disheartening that that didn’t happen, but that’s fine. I’m happy to let that go, because my body’s probably thanking me, time and time again, that I’m not doing it right now. But we’ll see.ā€
