James Gunn’s Superman: First Look At David Corenswet As Clark Kent

Great, Scott! Check out a look at David Corenswet as Clark Kent in James Gunn’s Superman as filming continues in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

We’ve seen set images and video showing off Corenswet suited up as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nicholas Hoult on set for Lex Luthor, and members of the Daily Planet newsroom.

Now behold James Gunn’s Clark Kent.

A set video has hit X which shows off David Corenswet playing Clark Kent stumbling clumsily through the streets of Metropolis as he likely makes his way to work at the Daily Planet.

The footage reminds me a lot of the classic Richard Donner Superman movies starring Christopher Reeve. However, the comparisons stop there.

You have to see it to believe it, but check out this close-up picture of David Corenswet as Clark Kent on X. Just what is going on???

Corenswet looks like he’s wearing some kind of goofy wig, and he’s also wearing serial killer glasses. Honestly, I think it looks awful.

However, what could be going on is that the scene in question is part of a far away shot, so they don’t need Corenswet to look all that good. At least that is what I am hoping for, because again, that depiction of Clark Kent looks simply awful.

Also worth a mention is the David Corenswet Superman suit hasn’t looked good in most of the set images as well, and it doesn’t even look good in the first official image. Why doesn’t it fit???

I’m trying to remain optimistic here but I expected better from Gunn. He’s no dummy, so I am left scratching my head what in the heck is exactly going on here.

James Gunn’s Superman gets released on July 11, 2025.

The film also stars Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela De Faría as the Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, with Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher MacDonald as Ron Troupe. Milly Alcock is also thought to be debuting as Supergirl prior to her own movie which gets released in 2026.
