James Gunn invites fans to the Puppy Bowl on Sunday – not the Super Bowl – where it has been said a sneak peak will be shown of the new Superman movie.
When is the Puppy Bowl?
The Puppy Bowl takes place on February 9th, Super Bowl Sunday, before The Big Game, at 2pm ET / 11am PT on Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, and TruTV.

What is the Puppy Bowl?
The event consists of puppies playing “Football” where one lucky dog will be awarded the “Krypto Super Play” award.
The Puppy Bowl is an annual television program featuring “adorable” puppies in a playful, football-themed setting. The “game” consists of puppies running around a small field decorated like a football stadium, chasing toys and each other. Touchdowns are scored when a puppy carries a toy into the end zone (seriously).
Why no Superman Super Bowl trailer?
At a cost of upwards of $8 million for a 30-second spot, there was no way David Zaslav was letting Gunn have a Superman Super Bowl trailer. Even prior to Zaslav, Warner Bros. never used the Super Bowl for trailers that I can think of off the top of my head. Not even the Harry Potter films or Nolan’s billion dollar Dark Knight movies had Super Bowl trailers, though Batman Begins did way back in 2005, I believe.
On the bright side, I suppose if you’re into dogs and such, you might find the Puppy Bowl enjoyable. Also, apparently there will be new Superman footage, which likely includes Krypto. Watch the latest spot below.
