With another DC movie bombing in a long line of DC movies, fans are turning their attention to the newly announced DCU following Joker 2 massively underperforming at the box office and with both the critics and the fans alike.
The first Joker made over a billion dollars at the box office, but singing a similar tune to what happened with the MCU’s The Marvels, Joker 2 will be lucky to open to $50 million.
Along with Joker 2, recent misfires from DC also include Aquaman 2, Blue Beetle, and The Flash. Up next from DC is James Gunn’s Superman as well as Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2. Fans are hoping the trend does not continue.
A fan questioned Gunn on Threads why Joker 2 doesn’t have the DC Studios logo.
“Because it’s not a DC Studios film,” said Gunn.
Another fan chime in, “The fact that you had to tell somebody that is crazy. Jesus people the first one wasn’t. What makes you think the second one’s gonna be any different.”
Gunn replied back that following Joker 2, all DC films will now be under the umbrella of DC Studios.
“Well I get why they would think that. They know Penguin is DC Studios, and The Batman 2 is. All future films with DC characters will be DC Studios,” said Gunn.
Creature Commandos also premiers in December. A Supergirl movie is in the works, and the Lanterns series continues moving forward.
Joker 2 director Todd Phillips recently said he is done with DC.
