What the reviews say
The negative
Critics on the negative side say Ironheart feels like filler in the broader MCU. Common complaints target the showâs weak pacing, uneven tone, flat character arcs, and reliance on Marvel tropes. Others criticize the writing for lacking depth and failing to balance the seriesâ themes of grief, technology, and magic. Some felt the show doesnât know what it wants to be or how to fully let Riri shine.
âItâs a heavy load to carry, and despite Dominique Thorneâs best efforts at making Ironheart a credible hero, as a concept, Ironheart buckles under the strain of trying to cast off Iron Manâs past.â â Daily Telegraph
âMuch of the long-awaited miniseries feels more like an afterthought than a worthy origin story â or worse, a meaningless exercise in imitation, left isolated and adrift in a random pocket of a convoluted, oversaturated franchise.â â Processed Media
âOnly coming alive in its final episode, which should have been its starting point rather than its cliffhanger-y conclusion, itâs further evidence that the once-mighty comic-book brand has watered itself down with second-rate heroes and adventures.â â The Daily Beast
âAs written, and as played by Thorne, Riri is so dour, and so flat, that Ironheart all but grinds to a halt whenever a scene is primarily about the seriesâ protagonist. Itâs a rare miss from a company thatâs usually great at casting.â -Rolling Stone

âFun and vibrant, Ironheart is a solid Marvel series that offers all the fantastical elements and a unique point of view that audiences should embrace, not ignore, and welcome with open arms.â â Geek Vibes Nation
âYou wonât want to stop hanging out with Riri Williams, and that makes âIronheartâ one of the must-watch new series of the summer.â â Looper
âFrom its shocking finale to its interesting direction of blending magic and tech, Ironheart doesnât hold back and will keep audiences wanting more.â â CBR
âIronheart is a compelling, grounded story that gives Riri Williams the introduction and in-depth character exploration she deserves. The series as a whole balance the whimsy and darkness of magic with the innovation of technology.â â Black Girl Nerds
