Warner Bros. has announced House of the Dragon has been renewed for a Season 3, which comes ahead of Sunday’s Season 2 premiere.

The announcement was made on the official Game of Thrones X account.

“The Dance of the Dragons continues. #HouseOfTheDragon has been renewed for Season 3 on @StreamOnMax,” tweeted the account.

What is House of the Dragon Season 2 about?

Season 2 premiers on HBO and Max on Sunday, June 16.

The new season will continue to chronicle the House Targaryen civil war and is based upon George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood.

The series stars Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast includes Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.

Newcomers to Season 2 include Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
