It’s now officially confirmed that Harrison Ford will be back for the Blade Runner sequel reprising his 1982 role as Rick Deckard.
The new Blade Runner will be set decades after the original and will start filming Summer 2016.
The script is co-written by original Blade Runner co-writer Hampton Fancher along with Michael Green (Green Lantern, Heroes, Smallville) based on an idea by Fanhcer and Ridley Scott.
According to Deadline, Scott doesn’t appear to be directing as Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) has been tapped to direct.
“We are honored that Harrison is joining us on this journey with Denis Villeneuve, who is a singular talent, as we experienced personally on Prisoners,”Producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said. “Hampton and Michael, with Ridley Scott, have crafted a uniquely potent and faithful sequel to one of the most universally celebrated films of all time, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with this amazing, creative team.”
