Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Passes $800M At Box Office

James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has now passed $800 million at the box office.

In its sixth weekend of release, the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 worldwide box office is now at $806,326,352, with a domestic gross of $335,600,773 and a foreign gross of $470,725,579.

The number is better than the first movie’s $773 million box office and approaching Volume 2‘s $863.7 million.

While the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 box office started out with a bit of worry, fans ended up turning out for the flick as word-of-mouth quickly spread that the flick is really good and even better than Volume 2.

James Gunn commented on Twitter.

“This is all great, but what the movie has meant to people around the world is so much more meaningful to me. Thanks to all of you for your support and kind messages!” tweeted Gunn. “I think it works and resonates with people in part because it’s the last one.”

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, Maria Bakalova and Sylvester Stallone.

Up next for James Gunn is his Superman: Legacy movie as Gunn has left Marvel and the MCU and is now in charge of DC Studios and the new upcoming DCU.
