During the flashback scene involving the huge battle against Darkseid's forces (watch below!), a member of the Green Lantern Corps, Yalan Gur, made a brief yet valiant cameo.
As Gal Gadot told the story of the battle, Wonder Woman said "allies from other worlds," which is when Green Lantern Yalan Gur appeared on screen flying threw the air creating constructs and taking out the bad guys. Wonder Woman then recounted how they "laying down their lives to drive Steppenwolf away," which saw the mighty Steppenwolf kill Green Lantern Yalan Gur.
I thought it was one of the cooler moments of the entire Justice League movie and definitely wanted more. I'm not sure, but I seem to recall that Zack Snyder wanted this scene to be the epic beginning to Justice League, which would be in line with his epic Man of Steel opening on Krypton, and the Batman vs. Superman opening set in Metropolis with Bruce Wayne. I think a lot got changed when Joss Whedon came onboard.
Now cool Green Lantern Yalan Gur concept art lands online.
The WB Movies All Access app has the Green Lantern Yalan Gur concept art with the following description: "The Green Lantern in this scene is Yalan Gur, who defended Earth and Sector 2814 in the 10 century."
We also see the description gives us a timeline of when Darkseid and Steppenwolf invaded Earth - the 10 century - which is when Yalan Gur was protecting Earth. It makes you wonder if Zack Snyder had plans to introduce the present day GL some time down the road.
Regarding Green Lantern in the DCEU, plans are underway for a Green Lantern Corps movie said to be released in 2020 or so. Dark Knight, Man of Steel and Krypton writer David S. Goyer is onboard the new Green Lantern movie and recently stated it's still in the work.
Who should play the new GL in the DCEU? Let us know in the comments below.
