A new fan theory has hit Reddit where it’s suggested that the original 1969 version of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be appearing in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and that Gunn is casting popular ’80s actors for the roles.
Possible evidence of the use of the original Guardians of the Galaxy members comes from Sharon Stone who recently let it be known her character’s powers involve heat.
Original Guardians of the Galaxy member, Nikki, was genetically engineered to live on Mercury and she has the superhuman ability to withstand heat and ultraviolet radiation. Nikki also expels her body heat through her head in a low-temperature flame.
Michael Rooker is already in the movie as Yondu, so there is another bonus.
So that leaves Martinex, Charlie-27, Vance Astro, and Starkhawk.
We know Kurt Russell is in Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Is he Starkhawk, father to Star-Lord?
Sylvester Stallone is rumored for the film as well: Is Sly playing Charlie-27? The rumors made mention Stallone was seen with what looked to be a Judge Dredd helment, which may fit in with the look of Charlie-27 a bit.
As noted by the Redditors, Martinex and Vance Astro wouldn’t need actors as they might be done with CGI, so voice actors would be cast. It’s also been rumored Back To The Future’s Christopher Lloyd has a small role, perhaps as either the voice of Martinex or Vance Astro?
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” has a May 5, 2017 release starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.
