Dwayne Johnson Welcomes Home Superman Henry Cavill

As has been rumored and speculated by many, Henry Cavill makes his return as Superman in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie.

Now before you complain about spoilers, Henry Cavill back as Superman is actually being marketed for Black Adam as, following the official premiere, Dwayne Johnson is talking about it in interviews.

Entertainment Tonight caught up with The Rock and mentioned that the cat is out of the bag when it comes to Henry Cavill coming into the mix and asks Johnson how much he had to do with it and what does he know about Man of Steel 2?

“Well, here is what I can tell you. I can tell you the whole goal and initiative of Black Adam was to build out the DC Universe by building out not only Black Adam, but the entire JSA, five new superhero characters in one movie, and also as I have been saying all along, there’s an ethos that we at Seven Bucks Productions have, myself, my co-founder Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia,” says Johnson.

Audience comes first says Dwayne Johnson

Johnson continues, “That is we always put the fans first. Audience comes first. So for years, audiences have been so passionate and vocal. We’ve established Black Adam as the most powerful and unstoppable force on our planet but the fans have been so passionate about, as we have been, where is the most unstoppable force in the universe. Where is he?”

Johnson adds, “Well, just like I fought hard for Black Adam for fifteen years, Dany has been fighting for six years, Hiram has been fighting for six years, fifteen years, we’ve all been fighting for this moment. So I will say this: Welcome home.”

Black Adam vs Superman is about building a story

Producer Hiram Garcia also spoke with Variety about a potential Black Adam vs Superman movie.

“If those guys cross paths, it’s really not just about a showdown, of course that is probably going to happen, but there’s much more we would want to do,” he says. “We like to really think about the long game and we like to think of some interesting long-form storytelling with two characters that are so polar opposite but kind of from the same place in terms of power and approach. If we are able to pull that off some way someday those guys cross path it’s not going to be a quick thing. We have some big ambitions for that.”

Black Adam opens Oct. 21 with tickets now on sale.

The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and also stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna, Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Bodhi Sabongui as Amon, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate.
