The current rumor going around is that, similar to Spider-Man, the X-Men may be coming back to Marvel.

It’s been rumored on more than once occasion that Fox and Disney are striking up a deal, which would see X-Men characters interact within the MCU.

One specific rumor stated an Avengers and X-Men movie is being planned for 2020, with another stating the X-Men are getting rebooted under Marvel following X-Men: Apocalypse.

The bad news is that it may not be happening.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 director James Gunn recently held a Facebook Q&A where he was asked about the crossover.

“I wouldn’t believe any of those rumors about Fox Disney,” Gunn said.

While Gunn seemed to have shot the rumor down, at least Fox’s Simon Kinberg and Deadpool’s Tim Miller are open to the idea of a crossover.

“Yeah, I think we all would,” Simon Kinberg recently said about crossing over Avengers and X-Men. “There’s so much crossover in the comics it would be neat to one day be able see those characters share a movie.”

You can watch more from James Gunn in the video below who also offers up he is not sure if he will be doing Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Gunn also says John C. Reilly will not be back as Nova’s Rhomann Dey for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” has a May 5, 2017 release.
