Doctor Who: First Look At Jonathan Groff

Doctor Who: First Look At Jonathan Groff

Following last week’s announcement, the BBC now releases a first look at Jonathan Groff in Doctor Who alongside the 15th Doctor and his new companion.

Not much is known about Groff’s character other than what is seen in the images below and the BBC previously teased Jonathan Groff is playing a mysterious and exciting guest role.

“I am so thrilled to jump into the extraordinary mind of Russell T Davies and watch the incredible Ncuti Gatwa soar in this iconic role!” said Groff in last week’s announcement.

Showrunner, Russell T Davies added, “This is an incredible coup, and a great honour, to get such a huge star striding on to our set. So strap on your space boots, this is going to be a blast!”

Details for Doctor Who returning in November include three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will then air over the festive period.

Doctor Who will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the UK and Ireland, and it has been announced Disney+ will be the exclusive home for new seasons of Doctor Who outside of the UK and Ireland.

Ncuti Gatwa plays the Fifteenth Doctor; Millie Gibson is the Doctor’s companion Ruby Sunday; Neil Patrick Harris plays the villain; Yasmin Finney is playing Rose; Jinkx Monsoon is the Doctor’s most powerful enemy, yet, and Sooz Kempner is playing the universe’s greatest assassin across a multi-platform story.

Jonathan Groff is known for playing Agent Smith in The Matrix: Resurrections, voices Kristoff in Frozen, starred in the popular Netflix series Mindhunter, stars in M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at the Cabin, and played Jesse in the musical comedy-drama GLEE.
