It’s learned that the Joe Hill Locke & Key TV series is getting underway at Hulu, which will see Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson directing the first episode.

Deadline reports the digital streaming network Hulu has given a pilot order to the one-hour Locke & Key series, which is adapted from the IDW Publishing horror/fantasy comic book from Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez.

The Locke & Key series comes from Joe Hill, who is the son of Stephen King, Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel, The Strain), who will serve as showrunner, and IDW Entertainment.

It’s reported that Joe Hill wrote the script for the Locke & Key TV series, with Scott Derrickson coming on board the project immediately after reading it.

It’s further said Scott Derrickson will be directing multiple episodes of Locke & Key Season 1, assuming Hulu officially picks it up, prior to directing Doctor Strange 2 for Marvel.

Locke & Key is described as revolving: “around three siblings who, after the gruesome murder of their father, move to their ancestral home in Maine only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. Little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.”

Locke & Key was also in development at one time from FOX TV who eventually passed on it and even screened a pilot back at the 2011 Comic-Con, which was well-received. FOX’s loss is Hulu’s gain.
