The first box office estimates for Deadpool & Wolverine are massive and offer the flick will have the biggest opening in three years, since Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Though presale ticket data revealed Deadpool & Wolverine is tracking far less than Spider-Man: No Way Home, the estimates for Deadpool & Wolverine are offering similar numbers.

Back in 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home opened to $260 million; estimates are offering Deadpool & Wolverine could open to as high as $239 million, or maybe even more.

That number beats last year’s Barbie ($162M) and Super Mario Bros. ($146M), and 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick ($126M), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ($181M), and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($187M).

For the record, Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame opened to a whopping $357M, and Infinity War to $257M.

The box office estimates come via The Quorum, “the industry’s leader in film data research and insight,” according to the website.

The site also lists Deadpool & Wolverine as having the highest “percent aware of film,” “percent interested in seeing the film,” “percent who would prefer to watch the film in a theater,” and “percent who would pay to watch the film” of any of the upcoming movies released in 2024.

Worth a mention is that Deadpool & Wolverine is rated R, so it remains to be seen if the younger audience and families show up, or will Deadpool & Wolverine be heavily front-loaded by the MCU stans?

Also worth questioning is if Deadpool & Wolverine will have potential for multiple viewings, such as flicks like the Spidey movies, Endgame and Infinity War.

Deadpool & Wolverine is also on track to score the biggest opening of an R-rated movie, passing Ryan Reynolds’ original Deadpool which brought in $132.4M back in February 2016.

The film opens July 26 directed by Shawn Levy and also stars Hugh Jackman.

Deadpool & Wolverine is rated-R for “strong bloody violence and language throughout, gore, and sexual references.”

The latest description offers: Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date – Deadpool & Wolverine. A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to – F*ck. Synopses are so f*cking stupid.
