The Deadpool movie has now passed the $600 million mark at the box office, giving it the third highest grossing R-rated movie of all time currently trailing American Sniper and The Passion of Christ.

Deadpool is closing in on $300 million in the U.S., as it stands at $285,639,009 domestically.

Worldwide, Deadpool has amassed $324,166,896.

That’s not too shabby for a movie Fox didn’t want to make in the first place and one that cost around $50 million to make.

Deadpool 2 is already in the works with Ryan Reynolds and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returning. The sequel will also feature the time travelling mutant Cable, and Domino is rumored as well. It’s reported Reynolds wants to keep the budget the same for Deadpool 2, and that Deadpool won’t be crossing over with the X-Men movies any time soon.

An X-Force movie is also back on the table, which may also be rated-R.

Speaking of the rating, the success of Deadpool has opened the door for futher adult comic book movies including it said Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film will be rated-R, and it’s reported Zack Snyder is releasing an R-rated Batman Vs. Superman Ultimate Edition director’s cut on Blu-Ray for Warner Bros.

Regarding the potential for a Marvel Studios rated-R movie – that seems unlikely – and recently Ant-Man director Peyton Reed and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn made light of the R-rated superhero films.

Deadpool 2 doesn’t have a release date as of yet, but Fox just delayed Gambit and announced two new release dates, which may be one for the Deadpool sequel.
