Dave Bautista Fought For Drax Movie

While it’s wondered if Dave Bautista will be returning to the role as a result of the firing of James Gunn, the actor recently reveals he actually pitched Disney a Drax solo movie.

Speaking with MTV while promoting the release of his latest flick, Final Score (watch the trailer below), Dave Bautista reveals he really wanted to do a Drax film.

“You know, I really wish they would tell more of the story of Drax’s family. I think it’s a beatutiful story, and I think it’s been lost and overlooked a little bit,” Dave Bautista said. “It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking emotional thing to know where that love for his family and that heartbreak over his family being lost and murdered, where it comes from I think.”

In the movies, it was revealed that Ronan had killed Drax’s family at the direction of Thanos, which is why he first joined the Guardians of the Galaxy.

“I really wish they would touch upon it more, and I think the fans would like to see it more, which is why I really pushed and fought for the Drax standalone film, but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen,” Dave Bautista explained. “But I really wish they would because I think there’s a story to be told there, and I think the fans would really love to see that story, even if it’s not me portraying Drax, I just still think it is an interesting story to tell.”
