A new X-Men movie is currently in development which is rumored to be revisiting the Dark Phoenix storyline.
Fans of the comics and previous movies know the Dark Phoenix arc was featured in X-Men: The Last Stand and also X-Men: Apocalypse which features Jean Grey with the Phoenix Force.
According to a casting website, the new X-Men movie is being called X-Men: Supernova, with the working title of "Teen Spirit" and has the following synopsis offering hints at the plot:
Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!
It's probably safe to assume Sophie Turner will be reprising the role of Jean Grey from X-Men: Apocalypse. I'm also hoping they take the X-Men out to space, which may mean the Starjammers, Shi'ar, Gladiator and the Imperial Guard as we see mention of "galaxies" in the description above.
It's further said X-Men: Supernova will start filming in June in Montreal.
