Studio Wants Cabin In The Woods 2

Disney & Jared Leto's 'Tron: Ares' Bombs At Box Office: Covid Blamed

Even though Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon had a tough time getting Cabin In The Woods green lit, now it’s learned Lionsgate wants a sequel to the horror movie that surprised and shocked viewers back in 2012.

Director and co-writer Drew Goodard told Den of Geek the studios wants a sequel.

“The studio wants to do it. They’ve come to us,” Goddard said. “The funny part is, I don’t think we planned that movie to do a sequel, you know?”

As noted, if you saw the end of the movie, it really didn’t leave anything open for a Cabin sequel, but Goddard continues with mention anything is possible.

“That being said, the fun thing about Cabin is, the rules are pretty crazy. We get away with a lot of crazy stuff. So, I’m sure we could figure it out if we got inspired to,” Goddard offered. “I know Joss and I both feel like we don’t want to tarnish what we did with the first one. With a sequel, we’d only do it if it made us laugh hard enough, I suppose.”

Goddard does offer there is “nothing in the hopper right now,” but notes that could always change.

“The way Joss and I work, we might wake up tomorrow and go, ‘let’s go do that,’ or whatever.”

Perhaps Goddard and Whedon will wake up and want to do a Cabin In The Woods prequel?
