Following the news of the Marvel Phase 3 updates, it’s now being rumored that Marvel Studios is dropping the Inhumans movie.
According to Bleeding Cool, Marvel Studios is going to cancel Inhumans, which is a result of Marvel Studios getting away from Marvel TV and eccentric Marvel billionaire Ike Perlmutter.
An apparent war has broken out between the two Marvel divisions, with both sides rumored to be blaming each other for the “disappointment” of Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
The report states Marvel TV and Perlmutter were most pushing for Inhumans because of Agents Of SHIELD, which introduced the characters.
Kevin Feige has been reported to have dropped the Marvel Creative Committee, which is made up of Joe Quesada, Brian Bendis and Dan Buckley, all of whom are heavily involved with Marvel TV and animation. You will note the Bendis created-characters (Skye, Jessica Jones) and Quesada’s favorites (Daredevil) are headlining Marvel TV.
Honestly, I can’t say I’m surprised by the news (and even thought they might cancel Inhumans myself) as Marvel TV and animation (and comics) are nowhere near as good in quality as the movies. I also didn’t think the Inhumans would make for a good film adaptation (especially following the lackluster Agents Of SHIELD).
