According to Latino Review, Asa Butterfield is Marvel and Sony's favorite to play Spider-Man, with it said Marvel had Butterfield on the top of their list since day one.
It's also been said we'll find out the identity of the actor playing Spider-Man by June as that is when Marvel will need Spider-Man for filming on Captain America: Civil War for the May 2016 release, which will be followed by the Sony standalone film in 2017.
Marvel has already let it be known the new Spider-Man will be Peter Parker set in high school, and that they already have the new Spider-Man costume ready.
