Captain Marvel Movie Gets Directors

The Captain Marvel movie has found a pair of directors.

Variety reports the Captain Marvel movie will be helmed by Mississippi Grind directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

The article notes Marvel Studios specifically went after a female director and performed a thorough search making sure the Captain Marvel script was right before signing anyone.

It’s further noted in their search for a director, Marvel Studios was looking for a unique point of view as they head into a new phase of films.

According to the report, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck met with Marvel Studios many times, and each time Marvel was more and more impressed by the duo with their vision for Captain Marvel. In addition, it’s said Marvel is happy the pair have both film and TV work, which they see as a strength.

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are also known for Half Nelson, which starred Ryan Gosling, and for directing episodes of The Affair and Billions. Mississippi Grind starred Ryan Reynolds.

The Captain Marvel movie will be released March 8, 2019 starring Brie Larson, with the script written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy); the movie focuses on Air Force pilot Carol Danvers who is fused with the DNA of an alien during an accident, which gives her superpowers including strength, energy projection, and flight.

Brie Larson will make her debut in The Avengers: Infinity War.
