Blade Will Be Back At It Soon Says Mahershala Ali

Amid all the delays and rumors, the good news is that Blade is still happening as Mahershala Ali says they will be back filming soon.

Not only has the release date been delayed, but rumors offer Blade has been having major problems including that Ali wasn’t even the star of the movie and has been relegated to the fourth lead.

While talking to EW.com, the two-time Oscar winner offered a promising update.

“We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you,” the actor said. “I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project. I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon.”

Sincerely encouraged

The flick has gone through numerous writers and directors, with Logan writer Michael Green now writing the flick.

“I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that,” Ali continued. “So that’s the extent of what I can tell you.”

The recent report by Variety also said the story at one point morphed into a narrative led by women filled with life lessons, and the sites also says that now the film will have a budget of less than $100 million.

The movie is said to also star Aaron Pierre, Delroy Lindo, and Mia Goth.

Blade also saw its release date movie from Feb. 14, 2025 to Nov. 7, 2025. Yann Demange is directing who recently confirmed it’s getting an R rating.

“They gave me the R, which is so important,” Demange said, adding, “I come out of this [short film] wanting to be more open, more vulnerable and bring a more personal aspect to my work.”

Demange continued, “But for Blade, we are going to have fun because Mahershala is such a deep actor. I’m excited to show a kind of ruthlessness, a roughness he has, that allows him to walk the earth in a particular way. I love him for that. He’s got a dignity and integrity, but there is a ferocity there that he usually keeps under the surface. I want to unleash that and put it on the screen.”
